Jumeirah Zabeel Saray is a luxurious beachside resort located on the west crescent of the iconic Palm Jumeirah in Dubai. The interior of the resort is inspired by the ancient palaces of Turkey and features hand-painted finishings, Turkish artworks and stunning murals inspired by the Golden Age of the Ottoman Empire. The resort offers 405 rooms and suites, 38 Royal Residences and the award-winning Talise Ottoman Spa, one of the largest and most luxurious spas in the Middle East. About the Job:
An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Manager to join Sports and Leisure team in Jumeirah Zabeel Saray. The main duties and responsibilities of this role:
• To monitor membership levels monthly to achieve maximum Revenue.
• To be familiar with all categories of memberships available for staff to sell and assisting to achieve a well balanced ratio of membership’s types.
• To familiarize oneself with monthly membership report types and numbers of Membership sold and Total Revenue achieved.
• To be responsible for monitoring Membership expiries, assist in obtaining payment & review frequently effective yield management.
• To assist in making sure that all members complete an Application form and / or a Disclaimer form upon joining and that a booklet containing the club rules and Regulations is provided.
• To actively promote and assist all employees in the sale of Club Memberships.
• To welcome every guest with a smile and provide a friendly and efficient service.
• To help ensure every Member and Hotel guest registers prior to using the Health Club facilities.
• To help ensure all bookings for classes are recorded and processed efficiently using the correct procedures.
• To have a working knowledge on cashiering procedures as well as membership processing.
• To take full responsibility of the overall daily operations.
• To help ensure any major changes to services and facilities to the Health Club or time changes to operating hours are communicated in writing to the members.
• Oversee guest feedback and guest complaint procedures.
• To prepare and update all Standard Operating Procedures in regards to the operations of the department (in absence of S&L Coordinator)
• Check all incoming mail and make the necessary follow up with relevant department / person in the resort.
• Ensure that office files are update and orderly (in absence of S&L Coordinator)
• To ensure that all employees have an understanding of and adhere to the hotel's rules and regulations and in particular the policies and procedures relating to Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety.
• To monitor and report any maintenance problems to Technical Services and/or Sports & Leisure Director.
• Continually monitor the performance of colleagues & provide coaching, counselling and/or discipline as per Jumeirah standards when required.
• Carry out bi-monthly discussions & performance appraisals as assigned by the S&L Director.
• Carry out daily operational walk rounds of all department areas to ensure smooth running.
• To familiarize themselves with all operational aspects of the department.
• To carry out Duty Manager’s shift responsibilities, as and when directed by the Sports & Leisure Director or S&L Manager.
• To check messages in S&L Communication Logbook on a regular basis.
• To assist with other departments within the resort and undertake any other duties, as and when required by the Sports & Leisure Manager and/or General Manager.
• To ensure the relevant administrative documents, checklists, safety inspections and reports are appropriately and accurately filled in, completed and turned in a timely manner to the appropriate person in order to maintain professional records of daily occurrences.
• To ensure that Team Leaders have all Lifeguard positions covered, by organizing, arranging and delegation of all subordinate colleagues in an effective / efficient manner on a daily basis in order to maintain appropriate manning levels as per the daily schedule.
• To ensure that Team Leaders organize / supervise the daily rotations and breaks of lifeguards ensuring they run smoothly and effectively. Ensure all subordinate colleagues are performing professionally and efficiently in order to meet requirements of Ellis & Associates Policies.
• To have an in-depth knowledge of running various sections within the Waterpark and the Resorts, ensuring all Standard Operating Procedures, Evacuation Procedures and Emergency Actions Plans are understood, communicated and followed by all colleagues in order to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the Aquatic Safety Program in support of the Wild Wadi and Jumeirah Mission Statement, Guiding Principles & Hallmarks.
• To ensure that the Team Leaders and Lifeguard training requirements are identified, in-service training is conducted, and in-house visual, C.P.R and V.A.T audits are conducted to maintain the highest standards of safety and skills in order to meet the guidelines of the Ellis & Associates Program. i.e. –
o Ensure Lifeguard’s provide surveillance of swimmers (10/20)
o Ensure Lifeguard’s have addressed environmental concerns.
o Ensure Lifeguard’s exhibit attentiveness to their zone of protection.
o Ensure Lifeguard’s exhibit a professional behavior / demeanor.
o Ensure Lifeguard’s are Rescue Ready at all times.
o Ensure Lifeguard’s exhibit proactive bottom, entry & exit scans during rotations.
o Ensure Lifeguard’s exhibit a rotation without loss of eye contact.
o Ensure Lifeguard’s exhibit the "5-minute strategy"
o Ensure that the Lifeguard location allowed visual surveillance of entire zone.
o Ensure that the Lifeguard location allowed immediate access to rescue equipment.
About you:
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:
• Previous experience working within guest services.
• Customer care skills. Guest complaint handling.
• Verbal / Written English fluent
• Computer skills
• Able to work weekends
• Flexible with shifts
• Previous experience within a Sports and Leisure team/ Beach Operations
• Knowledge of gym and kids area operations.
• Experience handling a team of over 50+ colleagues.
• Ability to manage various tasks/projects
• Experience in reporting end of the day operations
• Able to present to Excom on various areas of the operations.
• Able to work with a team of different nationalities.
• Has a certification in any sports field.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
• PIC trained.
