JOB SUMMARY
Effectively maintains the operation of the Accounting department to execute finance and accounting responsibilities for the Continent office. Provides strong technical expertise and direction to support the Continent Leadership Team on day to day basis by ensuring compliance with Marriott International Policies (MIP) as well as International and Local Standard Operating Procedures (ISOPs and LSOPs).
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
· Accounting Qualification or Studying towards an Accounting qualification plus High school diploma
· Minimum 3 years within Accountancy role.
· System knowledge of Peoplesoft is an advantage but not essential.
· Microsoft Excel Proficient

o General Finance and Accounting-The ability to apply knowledge of local Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (local GAAP), current company accounting policies and procedures, general accounting and financial reporting, auditing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable practices to ensure proper maintenance of business unit and/or company financial information
o Operations Accounting and Analysis-Knowledge of profit and loss statements and the ability to accurately plan for and forecast expenses and revenue using appropriate data inputs as part of a financial plan. Assists with the completion of annual budgets
o Financial Reporting-The ability to apply knowledge of principles-based standards, interpretations, frameworks and tools to create and maintain accurate business unit and/or company financial statements.
o Financial Analysis-The ability to review and analyze financial data and to communicate financial concepts in a clear and easy-to-understand manner and to work close with department heads to improve profitability. Reconciles balance sheets and ensures account balances are supported by appropriate documentation in accordance with MIP-66.
o Financial Audit and Controls-The ability to recognize, research, and resolve discrepancies in financial data, and create flow charts on main accounting and control cycles (A/R, AP, Cash) to facilitate understanding of key control points; including knowledge of and ensuring execution of local Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (local GAAP), Marriott International Policies (MIP), and International Standard Operating Procedures (ISOPs).
o Financial Systems-The ability to maintain and/or configure financial technology systems that support needed accounting, reporting, analysis and data maintenance, including security and performance considerations. Support above-property departments located in MEA with management reporting and other local accounting issues. Effectively leverages centralized accounting processes via OFB and Marriott Business Services.
