About the Job:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Junior Sous Chef to join the Culinary team at the Burj Al Arab. The main purpose of this role is to ensure the smooth operation of the department in charge by optimizing the use of all kitchen materials and manpower, thereby maximizing revenue and guest satisfaction and expectation.
Your key duties will include:
- Ensures proper daily preparation and execution of menu items within the station.
- Directly manages food production and waste generated by junior chefs.
- Gives tasks to Chef de Partie, Demi and Commis Chefs and monitor that they are carried out in the correct manner.
- Keeps the section clean and sanitized, while following HACCP principals.
About You:
In order to be considered for this role, you will have gained secondary school/university and or management certificate program. You will have at least 2 years' experience as Sous Chef in a 5 star hotel and at least 2 years’ as specialty Asian Chef.
This is a very "hands on" and demanding position so it is paramount that you work well in a team but are also able to set standards and lead by example at all times. You must be comfortable working under pressure.
You will have strong written and verbal English skills as well as a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office as strong communication skills are required.
